A long-time Montgomery screen printer is helping sell Fruit of the Loom HD cotton in a national ad campaign.
Fruit of the Loom picked four printers, including F&E Sportswear, to tout the quality of the company's new high-quality T-shirt.
Richard Patino, the executive vice president of the Montgomery company, said he became a screen maker, by mistake, more than 20 years ago.
"I got into the T-shirt business, and I love it to this day," he said in one of two commercials featuring the company.
Patino said customers have high expectations of their T-shirts and want it to look exactly like their paper proof.
"They expect us to make our print on the T-shirt as good as the print on the paper, and that is a very hard thing, he says in the ad. "When you have a fabric like the HD cotton that is closer to a piece of paper, the knit is tighter, it is closer together. It is going to give you a finer print."
