American printer company Lexmark will be acquired by a consortium of companies led by Chinese firms Apex Technology and PAG Asia Capital for $3.6 billion.

The deal will close during the second half of 2016, Lexmark announced in a statement Wednesday. Lexmark will continue to operate from their headquarters in Lexington, Ky.

Chairman and CEO Paul Rooke will continue to lead Lexmark after the deal closes. Rooke says the deal was done after determining it was in the best interest of shareholders following a review of strategic alternatives.

"As part of the consortium, Lexmark will be able to reach the next level of growth and innovation, to the benefit of our customers, business partners and suppliers, faster than we could achieve on our own," said Rooke in a statement.

Shares of Lexmark International are up more than 10% in morning trading. The company will no longer trade on the New York Stock Exchange once the deal is complete.
